Csaba Laszlo knows he’s under pressure as Dundee United manager right now.
However, he insists he has been since day one in the job and wouldn’t want it any other way.
A poor Betfred Cup campaign followed by an opening day league defeat against Dunfermline has left Tangerines fans worried about their team’s promotion prospects.
As well as being convinced his team will be challenging at the top of the Championship this term, Csaba is relaxed about the pressure that brings.
“Am I under pressure? Yes, because when you manage Dundee United you have to get back to the Premiership.
“The pressure at Dundee United is not from the third or fourth, or fifth game, it is from the very first game and I always knew this.
“It is normal to be under pressure in a job like this but if you didn’t want it or don’t think you can handle it then go and manage someone else.
“The club hasn’t been on a nice journey, it is a tough road and there are many stones on it.”
Csaba’s also aware of the criticism from some fans and, like everyone else at Tannadice, heard the boos after the final whistle sounded in the Pars game.
He defends fans’ right to their opinion but he will not let that be a distraction from the work he’s doing.
“There is always plenty of noise and of course everyone knows better than you but the most important thing is to stay focused,” he added.
“Can I convince the supporters I am the man to lead the club? That isn’t a question for me, all I can do is focus on my job.
“There are a lot of opinions but I can’t look at them, it doesn’t help me or make things better for Dundee United.
“This isn’t an easy job but there’s no point listening to criticism. I have to focus on my work.”
