Dundee United are set to make their 13th signing of the summer by adding Slovakian striker Pavol Safranko to their ranks.
The 23-year-old has been playing in Denmark with AaB, but reports from there have him on his way to Tannadice.
It was know the Tangerines had been in advanced talks with another front man and Safranko fits the bill.
The player’s agent, Emil Kavarovic, is quoted in the Slovakian media as saying: “In the case of Pavel, it is annual (contract), until summer 2019.
“All the parties are already agreed. On Tuesday it will be definitively (be) signing the contract.”
Manager Csaba Laszlo has been keen to add height to his attack and the twice capped attacker stand at over six feet tall.
And although he’s found goals hard to come by in the Danish Super League, hitting the net just one in 13 appearances, he had a proven scoring record back home Slovakia.
His career there kicked off with United’s former Cup Winners Cup opponents Tatran Presov, for whom he scored 17 league goals in just over 50 appearances.
He was also among the goals during a loan spell with Pdrezova and Dunajska Streda before moving to Scandinavia last year.
As well as his full international appearances for Slovakia, Safranko has been capped eight times at under-21 level.
