Csaba Laszlo is hoping for a triple boost in attack as Dundee United try to resurrect their Betfred Cup campaign when Alloa visit on Saturday.
The Tangerines’ gaffer could have injured trio Craig Curran, Billy King and Fraser Aird all available for the Tannadice tie.
Curran has missed both Betfred outings so far because of a dead leg suffered in the closed-door friendly win over Cowdenbeath just over a week ago.
The Englishman has been stepping up his training over the past few days and looks on course to be OK for the weekend.
King has also missed the opening ties, in his case because of a problem on the outside of his thigh.
The injection he had last week in a bid to clear it appears to have worked and he could be in the squad, though, after being sidelined for the past couple of weeks, he will not be ready to start.
Aird played in the draw/penalty shootout loss against Arbroath but what was described as “muscle tiredness” led to him sitting out the narrow defeat at Ross County on Tuesday night.
And if all three, or even a couple, of them are ready, Csaba believes it will add strength to his attack.
“I don’t want to make excuses but we were missing up front Billy King, Fraser Aird and Craig Curran against Ross County,” he said.
“If you have these players, you can bring more danger.
“I hope Craig Curran, definitely, and maybe Billy King can play 20 minutes.
“I also hope Fraser Aird will be able to play.”
As well as getting players fit and sufficient game time to make them 100% ready for the league kick-off against Dunfermline in just over a fortnight, United are working to make another couple of signings by then.
Their target areas are centre-half and another central striker and, although a list of possibles has been drawn up, right now it looks unlikely any deals will be completed before this weekend.
United will be holding their annual Meet the Players day at Tannadice on Sunday week.
Organised in conjunction with the United Business Club, fans will get the chance to watch the players put through a training session on the pitch.
The players will then be available for autographs and pictures.
