A proposed deal for local businessman John Gibson to buy former chairman Stephen Thompson’s majority shareholding in Dundee United has fallen through.
It’s understood the pair had been in talks for the past two weeks or so over a sale that would have been worth in the region of £500,000, but have failed to reached an agreement.
Thompson stood down as chairman in March but remains in control of 53% of the club’s shares.
He had been expected to sell them to a mystery American consortium this summer, but his discussions with Gibson would point to that proposed deal also no longer being on the table.
