Former Dundee United skipper Willo Flood’s move to Indonesia has collapsed because of red tape.
Just over a week ago the 33-year-old flew out to sign up with Bali United and was unveiled in a blaze of publicity.
What his new club did not realise was a new rule in Indonesia’s Liga 1 means foreign players must now have played top-flight football at their previous club in order to be granted a work permit.
With United being in the Championship last term that was not deemed a high enough level for the Irishman’s move to be rubber stamped.
It’s understood the Irishman is now on his way back to this country and is likely to sign up again with Dunfermline.
The Pars had cancelled his contract just nine days to allow him to move to Bali, but have an agreement that should he return to Scotland for any reason he would rejoin them.
