Almost a completely new squad will be handed the task of making it third time lucky as Dundee United look to get out of the Championship next season.
It means the number of signings this summer will be in double figures.
Gaffer Csaba Laszlo is already at work on a major overhaul that is seeing nearly every member of this term’s unsuccessful team shown the door.
Those leaving the club upon expiry of their contracts are Willo Flood, Bilel Mohsni, Mark Durnan, Cammy Ballantyne, Jordie Briels, Paul Quinn, Grant Gillespie and Emil Lyng.
Returning to their parent clubs on completion of loan deals are Thomas Mikkelsen, Harry Lewis, Anthony Ralston, Craig Slater and Brandon Mason.
And young stars Scott Fraser and Jamie Robson also look set to move on under freedom of contract.
Even players like Tam Scobbie, Paul McMullan and Billy King who have time left on their current deals, may be informed they are surplus to requirements.
Changes to the backroom staff are also on the cards and Csaba has already confirmed he wants long-time No 2, German Werner Burger, on board.
United old boy Craig Easton could also be brought in to work with the club’s youth after impressing in a similar role at Raith Rovers.
Skipper Flood has been offered a backroom post, too, but looks likely to continue his playing career elsewhere.
For the manager there was no dwelling on the bitter disappointment of the play-off exit at Livingston on Friday night.
He was back at work first thing on Saturday and spent the day informing a string of players their time at Tannadice was up.
Csaba will not be taking a break during the summer and would like most of his new personnel fixed up in time for the start of pre-season training next month.
He will work closely with United legend and chief scout Paul Sturrock to get the players he feels are needed to ensure promotion is achieved next year.
“We have to bring a team together for next season and try to reach the dream to be in the Premiership,” Csaba said.
“It will be a long summer with a lot of work. I am committed to the club and the most important thing is the club is willing to rebuild things.”
Already a list of players, some from Scotland and others from further afield, has been compiled as the club hopes to make signings as quickly possible.
One of the names on it is former player Michael Gardyne, whose contract at Ross County is coming to an end.
However, as the Tele revealed last week, he is also likely to get an offer from city rivals Dundee so the chance to stay in the Premiership could see the 32-year-old heading for Dens Park.
