Csaba Laszlo will be given the chance to rebuild Dundee United next season – whatever division they’re in.
And that looks likely to see him re-united with his long time No 2 Werner Burger.
Laszlo signed up until the end of next season when he replaced Ray McKinnon last November.
Back then the aim was still automatic promotion and, although United missed that target and are currently locked in another end-off season play-off campaign in a bid to get up, the Tele understands the 54-year-old has been told his continued employment is not dependent on a successful outcome.
He’ll remain in charge whatever happens in the play-offs and be the man who rebuilds the squad for next term.
That process is set to involve German Burger, who was assistant to Csaba during his spells at Hearts, MTK Budapest and Dunaisak Streda.
The 60-year-old has watched a number of United games and even training sessions in recent weeks.
One change for next season has already been confirmed with the news head of football operations Darren Taylor is leaving.
Taylor was appointed by Ray McKinnon last year but has now agreed to a parting of the ways.
