Csaba Laszlo is already on record as stating Dundee United are 99% in the play-offs.
Now he wants his players to complete the final 1% of that journey by securing victory at Queen of the South.
Results elsewhere over the next week could confirm the Tangerines’ post-season spot without them having to win another point but the gaffer would much prefer his team to do the job in Dumfries.
A win there would keep them in the running for second spot in the Championship and two fewer play-off games in the battle to win promotion.
“According to the table, 99% we have made the play-offs,” he said.
“If we win against Queen of the South we are fighting for a better position in the league and that is now the target.”
If United do make it a season’s best run of four wins in a row, they could go into next week’s final game against Livingston seeking the runners-up spot, though only if Livi drop points to Brechin or on Tuesday when they face Inverness Caley Thistle.
Csaba will look on with interest at how those games unfold but right now his focus is Palmerston and the Doonhamers.
He could make changes from the line-up that put five past Brechin at Glebe Park on Tuesday, though with Willo Flood and Paul McMullan recovering from knocks, he does not have to.
After games in each of the last six midweeks, he could choose to freshen things up and midweek supersub Scott McDonald looks in line to start.
Scott Fraser, who also came on and scored at the Glebe, is in contention to start, too.
Csaba, though, admits he’s been impressed with the way the players have handled the hectic schedule.
“At the moment I can’t be disappointed and my hope is we keep going,” he added.
“Even for me, I am not a young manager, this has been a new situation in the last six weeks every week we had Tuesday, Saturday.
“To manage that mentally and physically was not easy for all of us, especially as a lot of the time we had bad results.
“We had more pressure, but after these three wins in a row we have had, there are two games over the next week and, hopefully, we can handle the situation so that we win them.”
