Dundee United could add to their squad by the weekend as they try to get their promotion challenge back on the rails.
Up until Saturday night, clubs can complete loan deals and sign free agents and play them for the remainder of the season.
And it’s possible the Tangerines may use the second route to bolster manager Csaba Laszlo’s options.
This month has already seen him fix up Bilel Mohsni on a short-term contract and bring in young Celtic star Anthony Ralston on an emergency loan.
Despite United’s continued struggles in their battle to secure a promotion play-off place, that pair have shown up well.
And if others of a similar calibre are available, business could be done, though it’s unlikely any new arrivals would be involved in Saturday’s trip to Morton.
The Tangerines head there desperately needing points and knowing hopes of a second-place finish would be severely dented by another defeat.
Meanwhile, a battling comeback by the Development League team at Tannadice on Wednesday night provided some cheer.
Trailing 3-2 to St Mirren at the interval, Dave Bowman’s youngsters produced a storming second period to run out winners by 5-3.
Early on, they initially battled back to lead 2-1 thanks to strikes from Idris Kadded and Declan Glass.
They were behind again by the break but skipper Jake Davidson levelled things 15 minutes into the second period.
Logan Chalmers then put the young Tangerines ahead for the second time on the night.
And United sealed their victory when Kadded added his second goal of the game with eight minutes remaining.
