Drinks were on the goalie for a group of Dundee United fans at Tannadice on Saturday.
Tangerines number one Harry Lewis’s mum and granddad had travelled from England to watch him again Inverness Caley a week earlier and been befriended by several Arabs who are regulars in the Hegarty Suite before games.
When the 20-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Southampton, found out he left £50 and a thank you note on their table prior to the weekend clash with Dunfermline.
The note read: “To all the lads on the table at the Hegarty last weekend.
“I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for looking after my mum last Saturday in a difficult time for my family.
“You guys made her day and I really appreciate it, so here’s a round on me and mum!”
The gesture was appreciated by the punters and the money well spent!
Arabs took to social media to praise their keeper, with one posting: “This is what we are all about. End of. Respect to the Young Man.”
Another added: “Whatever happens to big Harry, I hope he will go onto play for England. He is a diamond and excellent goalkeeper but above everything a lovely lad. Pity more weren’t like Harry Lewis!”
In response, Harry’s mum tweeted:
Thank you to the guys in the Hegarty suite. “Alf Garnet” the taxi driver etc. Thank you. My dad had a fabulous time when he visited. You made him feel special. You helped my difficult weekend last week and I’m very grateful. Nicki x
