Csaba Laszlo to ring the changes as Dundee United head for Inverness

Csaba Laszlo will make changes as Dundee United attempt to get their promotion challenge back on track at Inverness.

New signing Grant Gillespie is in line to start, while Tam Scobbie could be back at the heart of the defence.

Gillespie has not played since previous club Hamilton’s 3-1 defeat at Celtic in mid-December but has been training hard with his new team-mates this week.

Fellow-midfielder Craig Slater, on loan from Colchester to the end of the season, could return to the starting line-up.

He was only a sub for last week’s damaging home defeat at the hands of Morton.

Whoever plays, the manager is looking for a massive improvement on last Saturday.

“The football we played against Morton nobody wants to see, to be honest. I told this to the players,” said Csaba.

“Even if I am a Dundee United fan, I go to the stadium, I pay money and I see this. It is better I switch on my TV and see a game from Spain or England.”

While it’s been another traumatic few days at United with Stephen Thompson announcing he is standing down as chairman and fans calling for him to sever all ties with the club, Csaba knows responsibility for last week lies in only one area.

And while he admits the job at Tannadice has been harder than he envisaged, he’s determined to get it right.

“You can’t blame the chairman, the board, nobody but us because we have delivered this.

“I know this is harder than I thought. I am very honest. The injuries we’ve got (to Scott Fraser and Fraser Fyvie) have blown us away. Our opponents, if they had the choice, if you asked their managers which two players you want out from Dundee United it wold be them.

“We lost the brain and the heart of our team.

“I don’t hide behind this but we have had to rebuild everything.

“We dropped from our quality but we will come back, I am sure, I am a fighter.”

Tickets for today’s game have been on sale from the club shop at Tannadice and travelling fans can also buy them at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium before kick-off.

Briefs are also available for the Scottish Cup tie at Aberdeen on Sunday week.
