Csaba Laszlo is torn between making changes or giving his players the chance to redeem themselves when they head for Dunfermline on Saturday.
The Dundee United boss admits after a hammering like last weekend’s 6-1 loss at Falkirk, few of his team could complain if they were dropped for the trip to Fife.
But giving most, or even all, of them the opportunity to show what happened was a freak one-off is also an alternative.
And as much as he was hurt by the Bairns’ defeat, he has not forgotten the good work his players have put in since his arrival in November.
“If you have the possibility for change, maybe you change but I want the people back in charge,” said Csaba, who also admits the recent spate of injuries limits his options.
“We are not capable now to change half the team and the people who played good football for two months now, they don’t forget to play just in 70 minutes.
“Even in the first 20 minutes against Falkirk the team was OK but what happened after it was like you switch off the light. It was in the dark.
“This is what I don’t understand. Physically, mentally we are OK, we have a fantastic support and we just are surprised, and for what?”
Csaba has confirmed he expects centre-half Mark Durnan to be available to start after missing out at Falkirk with a swollen ankle.
Durnan trained on his own in the early part of the week but was back with the rest of the squad today.
Young goalkeeper Brett Long has returned to Tannadice after spending the first half of the season out on loan at Northern Irish outfit Cliftonville.
