Two second half goals from Lewis Morgan gave St Mirren the points in the top of the Championship clash with Dundee United in Paisley.
On a bad night for the Tangerines, Paul McMullan missed a first half penalty before the home team took charge after the break.
United had made one change from the side that beat Livingston last weekend, fit again Willo Flood coming in for the injured Fraser Fyvie.
After a positive start the Tangerines wasted a golden chance to move ahead in the 13th minute when McMullan saw that penalty saved by home goalie Craig Samson.
That was the best chance of a first half that was big on effort but short on quality, particular in the attacking thirds of the pitch.
United did do plenty of attacking and forced several corners, though without troubling the Buddies’ back line.
In the 59th minute the home team went ahead when Morgan cut in from the left and beat Harry Lewis with a fine low shot from outside the area.
Not long after that there was another set back as skipper Willo Flood had to be replaced by Matty Smith because of a knee knock.
Having fallen behind, United huffed and puffed but seldom looked like threatening Samson’s goal.
And Morgan grabbed his second goal in the 78th minute to keep the points in Paisley.
