Csaba Laszlo will make several fitness checks before he finalises his team for today’s Tannadice clash with Livingston.
As the manager confirmed earlier this week, skipper Willo Flood has returned to the squad after a dislocated shoulder but may be eased back via a seat on the bench.
As well as deciding on that, Csaba will check on striker James Keatings and defender Stewart Murdoch to see if they can be involved.
Keatings has been training on his own and could be involved, though not from the start.
Murdoch, meanwhile, has been making progress after missing out in the abandoned game at Queen of the South last Saturday because of a training knock, his chances look slim.
Depending on results, United could return to the top of the league with victory.
And they know wins in the next two games would guarantee top spot at the end of the year.
That’s what Csaba is targeting, though he stressed first place right now is not what matters most.
“It is very important for us to be top but it is also important not who is top in January but who is there at the end of the league,” he added.
“If we win the game against Livingston and if we win the game against St Mirren, generally, we will have made a very huge step forward.
“Then, though, we must stay there.”
