Wednesday used to be a day of rest for Dundee United players but not any more.
The first-team squad were hard at work at their St Andrews training base yesterday after new boss Csaba Laszlo told them any free time will have to be earned.
The Hungarian may come over as an easy-going character but his first full week in charge has seen him stamp his authority.
And that means until his aim of promotion is achieved, his charges can expect hard work and plenty of it.
“Until now it was always Wednesday-free. I think you are a professional footballer and you have to train and not have too many days off,” said Csaba.
“We have to come here and work for our target and, after if we reach our target, you can have a nice holiday.
“For now you get no holidays.
“We have enough free time for your own, for recovering and everything but now we are focused.
“I talked to the players, they understand nothing comes alone.”
United have no injury concerns for Csaba’s first league game in charge when Falkirk visit on Sunday.
He is unlikely to make major changes from the line-up that started the last two league wins over Dumbarton and St Mirren.
But he is gradually introducing his own methods and style of play.
“It is important you have the old rule — don’t change a winning team.
“I don’t say it will be 100% the same team that will go out on the field with the same tactical shape but you have to keep the good things.
“We will be top if we beat Falkirk but what is important to me is we are top at the end of the season.”
