Dundee United gaffer Ray McKinnon may not fully know the playing squad he’ll have at his disposal just yet, but he has firmed up another of his backroom staff.
McKinnon’s former team-mate Christian Dailly, who will join the coaching team on a part-time basis.
Added to that Dailly, 43, will carry out his duties without pay.
As well as his vast experience of a playing career with the likes of United, West Ham, Rangers and Scotland, Dailly is also a qualified athletics coach and will help out with fitness and conditioning.
“Christian is offering his services free and that says everything about the kind of lad he is,” added Ray.
“More importantly he has real expertise and is well respected in sport in general.
“I have gone through what he can do for us and it can be a huge help when it comes to fitness and conditioning and should help prevent injuries.”
Dundonian Dailly played more than 140 times at the heart of United’s back line between 1990 and 1996 before earning a move to Derby County after they secured promotion to the FA Premier League.
