It emerged yesterday that a written offer of £40,000 from the Moldovan champions had been rejected. They have now upped that bid considerably but have again been told “no thanks” by the Tangerines. That may not put Sheriff off and there remains a strong possibility a third offer will be forthcoming before the transfer window closes next midweek. And even if that’s not enough to get business done now, Sheriff may make moves to get the 24-year-old when he’s out of contract in the summer. They are the dominant force in Moldovan football, having won the national title there 14 times in the last 16 season. That means a regular income stream from involvement in the Champions League qualifying rounds most summers. By moving there, the Dundonian would double his wages several times over. Inverness are also lurking in the background so far as next term goes but there as been no attempt by them to get him now. This article originally appeared on the Evening Telegraph website.
