He could have three senior players back for St Mirren, but Dundee United gaffer Ray McKinnon will not be taking any gambles with fitness.
Cammy Bell, Willo Flood and Tope Obadeyi are all back training after injury and want to play.
The manager, though, will keep checking on them until just before he hands in his team lines at 2pm.
And if any show a reaction to stepping up training over the past few days, they will not play.
“I could have them all available and that would be great,” said Ray.
“But I won’t take any chances and, if any of them are feeling the effects of the past couple of days, they won’t play.”
Of the trio, Flood looks certain to return after four games out with a thigh problem.
Obadeyi missed last week’s Irn-Bru Cup win at Stranraer with a tight hamstring and is touch-and-go for this one.
And, while Bell is on the verge of a miracle recovery from groin surgery last week, Ray would rather lose him for one more game than risk a recurrence.
“Cammy is feeling fine but it would be a very quick return. He’s such an important player, I don’t want to take any risks with him.
“With Tope’s pace, particularly over the first 15 yards, hamstrings can be a problem, so we need to be careful.
“But, if I have them all back, I’ll be delighted because you are talking three very good players.”
