We’ll need top form says Dundee United boss

Dundee United and Dunfermline last met a little over a month ago but there will be vastly-different line-ups when they clash in the Championship at East End Park.

The Tangerines beat the Pars 2-0 in the Betfred Cup at Tannadice on July 31.

At the time, though, Ray McKinnon was still in the middle of his summer signing programme.

And that day saw Alan Johnson’s line-up ravaged by injury.

Today should see Tony Andreu, Frank van der Struijk and William Edjenguele make their Championship debuts for the visitors.

And full-back Paul Dixon will be in the pool after missing that cup-tie with a knee injury.

Since that defeat, Dunfermline have also added the likes of strikers Nicky Clark and former United man Farid El Alagui to their squad.

As he looks for a first away win in the league, the United gaffer believes his side will have to produce their best form.

“I think at times this season we have played some very good football,” he said. “That’s what we’ll need against Dunfermline because they are a decent team.

“We played well to beat them in the cup and it will take the same kind of performance.

“As well as seeing them in that game, I’ve watched them and they play good football and have decent players.

“They’re also strong down at East End Park and they’ve been getting some big crowds.

“They might have started a bit slowly in the league but they’ll do well.”

Meanwhile, Former United striker Ryan Dow is set to sign up with Ross County for the rest of the season.

Dow left Tannadice under freedom of contract.
