Ray McKinnon’s men looked to have the points won inside the first 25 minutes, but ended the game hanging on for a point. Willo Flood had gone close already by the time he blasted his team ahead with a fine 20-yard strike in the 17th minute. And four minutes later he was in the thick of the action again as he was felled by Declan McManus just inside the Raith box. Referee Craig Thomson pointed to the spot and the kick was calmly sent into the back of the net by Cammy Smith. United looked well on top but the visitors grabbed a lifeline in the 39th minute when Jordan Thompson netted with a glorious volley. Gary Locke’s team were back in the game and the second half saw them fight hard to get on level terms. They had most of the pressure and got their reward with 18 minutes left as Kevin McHattie blasted home from the edge of the area. This article originally appeared on the Evening Telegraph website.
