Ray McKinnon wants to keep paying back Arabs for their “tremendous” loyalty by chalking up another Tannadice win as the Championship action kicks off against Queen of the South.
The Tangerines have won their two home games so far, beating Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline in the League Cup, scoring eight goals in the process.
And Ray believes a third win on the bounce in front of the East Stand would be no less than United fans deserve after their show of loyalty in the wake of relegation.
To date they’ve snapped up almost 4,400 season tickets — more than Dundee have sold for a Premiership campaign — and, even when those briefs were not valid, have turned up in numbers.
“What a response it’s been from the fans,” said Ray.
“There were 5,000 here last Sunday and that was tremendous.
“Don’t forget the game was on TV and it was pay at the gate.
“We have a brilliant fan base and the season tickets they’ve bought have helped us with our signings.
“We want to keep doing our best for them on the park because they deserve a successful team.”
United go into today minus suspended midfielder Scott Fraser and injured full-back Paul Dixon.
They are awaiting news of the scan Dixon had on the knee injury he suffered at Inverness Caley Thistle during the League Cup group stages.
