Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon was delighted by a near-perfect performance in his first home game in charge.
And there was special praise for Man-of-the-Match Simon Murray, who struck his first hat-trick in Tangerine in the 6-1 League Cup demolition of hapless Cowdenbeath.
But Ray felt his was only one of a long list of impressive displays.
He said: “I’m delighted for him (Murray) because he works hard but there were other good performances as well.
“Big Lewis Toshney was great and Paul Dixon did very well. Stewart Murdoch did the work he does in the middle of the park and so did Willo Flood. They did the unseen job, if you like, very well.”
The gaffer was also happy to give Dutchman Nick van der Velden, signed on a one-year deal earlier in the day, a run-out in the second half.
“Nick came on as well and looked good. I’m delighted to get him in because he has real quality and will be a great addition to the squad.
“He can play either as main striker or as one of the three behind. He has showed in both training and a bounce game last week how good a player he is. He will be excellent for us.”
Despite the thumping win, the manager is not getting carried away.
Although Ray was left purring with delight as four goals by half-time had three points from the second group game in the bag, he stressed his new-look team is still coming together.
“Obviously, I am very pleased but I am not getting carried away,” he said.
“It’s all about building, gelling as a team and trying to get the boys playing in a certain way and it’s coming on.
“The result on Tuesday night, the result Saturday, whatever it is, will stand us in good stead for what lies ahead and that’s the main thing.”
Although so early in the season he’s staying calm, he could not hide his pleasure over the clinical manner in which his Tangerines went about their business.
“There was some nice stuff. The boys played well, dominated the game, passed it slickly and I’m delighted with the result.”
As well as the first-half goal blitz, he was particularly pleased with the way United kept going right to the end of the 90 minutes.
“I’m delighted with how they were in the second half when they kept that tempo up and kept passing and moving it.
“I was also pleased to get all the boys on and get them game time.”
