Impressive United romped to Forfarshire Cup success over Brechin at Glebe Park thanks to a four-goal first half blast.
Ray McKinnon’s side dominated from the start and took the lead in just seven minutes as Scott Fraser released Justin Johnson on the right and the young winger netted with a low angled drive.
Simon Murray, Blair Spittal, Coll Donaldson and Charlie Telfer all went close before Fraser curled home a fine 20-yard shot to double the lead 12 minutes before the break.
That opened the flood gates and seven minutes later Spittal made it three with an effort from the left of the box. Two minutes before the interval Murray capitalised on slack home defending to blast home number four.
Brechin did have a chance to pull one back 19 minutes into the second half when Ross Caldwell went clear after a Stewart Murdoch error, but the striker failed to find the target.
United continue to dominate, though, and with 11 minutes remaining Murray hit number five via a superb strike from just outside the area.
