Former favourite Willo Flood could be back on Dundee United’s radar after it emerged he’s set to quit Aberdeen.
The possibility of a third spell at Tannadice for the Irishman was raised a couple of weeks back.
But with the Dons saying they wanted to hang on to their most-experienced midfielder, any proposed deal looked a non-starter.
It’s understood, however, the Pittodrie club are now willing to let Flood go and that has to mean there’s a chance he will be heading to the Tangerines.
In the meantime, United boss Ray McKinnon is pressing ahead with work to bring in other signing targets and that’s likely to see Kilmarnock attacker Tope Obadeyi fixed up in the next day or two.
The 26-year-old will be free to sign up in the next 48 hours. Ray has confirmed his interest and talks with the former England youth international are at an advanced stage.
United also have not given up their chase of midfielder Lewis Toshney. Although Raith Rovers have knocked back two five-figure bids for the 24-year-old, the clubs are still talking.
