Dundee United’s efforts to get high earners who’ve been told they’re surplus to requirements off the books will continue over the summer break.
Boss Ray McKinnon’s signing plans would be boosted by the likes of Darko Bodul and Henri Anier finding new clubs.
Getting them, and others, off the books would give him extra cash to bring in the players he wants for next season.
Both had left for the summer by the time he took up his duties last week and don’t need to be back in the country until pre-season training kicks off in around a month.
But the manager could make contact with them to discuss their future plans.
Bodul has become the forgotten man at Tannadice and the one-time Ajax kid’s last appearance was as a substitute in the New Year derby at Dundee on January 2. His last start was way back in October in the defeat at Celtic.
Anier is on international duty and is expected to lead the Estonian attack in a friendly against Lithuania on Sunday.
His last appearance in tangerine came as a sub against Hibs in the Scottish Cup semi-final in mid-April.
Players like Paul Paton and Coll Donaldson have already been linked with moves but, so far, no one under contract has signed up elsewhere.
While the Tangerines are keen to see them move on, if they remain at the club their contracts will be honoured and they will be considered for selection.
