Dundee United chairman Mark Ogren insists Tam Courts is doing a ‘phenomenal’ job for the Tannadice club.
Ogren, who celebrated his 59th birthday yesterday, has been in Scotland over the last few weeks to witness United’s win over Dundee and the draw with Celtic on Sunday.
Those results have seen United climb into fifth place in the Premiership – and they will be ahead of Celtic going into the international break if they claim victory over Ross County on Saturday.
Courts is winning over his Dundee United doubters after making a stunning impact in his first 100 days as head coach.
And in the first part of an exclusive interview with Courier Sport, United’s American owner Ogren has given Courts his full backing.
“Tam is absolutely everything we thought he would be,” said Ogren.
“We knew him already because he had been working at the club but he’s doing a phenomenal job.
“He’s a really good guy and I enjoy visiting him.
“I learn something every time I sit down and talk to him.
“He’s clearly very well spoken. He knows the game inside out and he can dumb it down for me because I’m still learning it myself!”
Mark Ogren: Tam Courts has developed ‘strong relationship’ with players
Ogren believes Courts’ man management skills have been pivotal to his early success in the Tannadice hotseat.
“I really enjoy my conversations with him,” added Ogren.
“He has developed a very strong relationship with all the players and knows them well on an individual basis. That’s really key.
“Tam works incredibly hard and I admire that but he also has a family so we have to make sure he is able to spend some time with them.
“He loves what he does, is very good at what he does and we are very happy with him.”
