Dundee United’s Jamie Robson has admitted he would like to follow in the illustrious footsteps of a certain Andy Robertson.
The 18-year-old scored his first goal for the Tangerines on Saturday in the vital Championship win over Ayr United at Tannadice.
Robson admits he still has lots to learn as a full-back but he has set his sights high and would like to emulate what former United star Robertson has achieved.
He said: “Hopefully I can progress like Andy. He is a great player and I enjoyed watching him when I was a youngster just coming through in the first year of the 20s.
“I watched Andy training and in games here. I looked up to him and he’s done what I want to do, move down to England.
“It would be great to play in the Premier League and try to win medals and trophies.”
Robson made his breakthrough into the United first-team because of an injury to Paul Dixon.
The experienced defender is working his way back to full fitness but Robson insist he isn’t ready to relinquish the jersey any time soon.
He added: “I just have to keep doing the right things, playing easy balls and help contribute as much as I can.
“Hopefully I can do enough to try to keep the jersey.”
