Dundee United may sue former striker Mario Bilate after he criticised the club’s medical staff.
The Tangerines say they have taken legal advice in response to the article that appeared in Dutch sports magazine Voetball.
Bilate claimed a host of hamstring problems stemmed from misdiagnosis and poor treatment from the club’s physios and medical staff.
He said: “In my first season I had a pain in my hamstring, which was something I’d never experienced before.
“I was wrongly diagnosed. They didn’t spot the problems.
“I would return to action too soon and things would go wrong once again.
“The club didn’t give me an MRI scan. They drew up a recovery plan for me before they knew what my problems were.”
However, United believe Bilate has breached terms of his settlement agreement, which bans the player from speaking about his time at Tannadice.
A spokesman said: “We are taking legal advice because Bilate appears to be in clear breach of a whole host of things.
“He signed a settlement agreement or compromise agreement which means he cannot talk about anything to do with the club he has left. Clearly, he has breached that agreement.
“It was a legally binding agreement that neither party could talk about
the other.
“Six months later he has made allegations about the club that we deny emphatically.
“Secondly, the comments he has made about our physio staff are completely unacceptable and unfair on them.”
