St Mirren 0 Dundee United 2: United momentum builds with Paisley win
ByReporter
Dundee United are just three points off the lead in the Championship after this defeat of basement club St Mirren.
Scott Fraser and Tony Andreu got the goals – one in each half – to clinch a deserved victory for the Tangerines.
It was a good day for Ray McKinnon’s men all round, with Hibs only drawing against Raith Rovers and Queen of the South being thumped by Morton.
In the 38th minute United had something to show for their dominance when Tope Obadeyi played in Fraser and the midfielder steered his shot past Jamie Langfield.
It should have been two before the break when Andreu passed up an excellent chance.
Cammy Bell was busier after the interval than he had been before it but United’s extra class in the final third told when Andreu pounced on a loose ball in the box for their second.
The only blemish on an excellent afternoon was a late red card for Mark Durnan, who picked up two bookings in quick succession.
