Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon is breathing a huge sigh of relief after two key midfielders recovered from training ground injuries.
McKinnon had been concerned that both Willo Flood and Tony Andreu might miss tomorrow’s home Championship clash against Dumbarton.
Flood hurt his ankle during a workout at their St Andrews training base, while Andreu took an accidental knee in the back from defender Frank van der Struijk.
However, McKinnon was delighted to report good news last night.
He said: “Both of the injuries did cause me concern earlier in the week but things are looking OK now.
“We were worried about Tony’s kidneys in particular but I’m glad to say he’s absolutely fine.
“Both he and Willo trained today and it looks like both have fully recovered in time for the Dumbarton match.”
Meanwhile, Sons manager Steve Aitken is hoping that playing at Tannadice will give his players the motivation required to end a run of seven games without a win.
Their last league success came against United back in August and Aitken is hoping that playing at a top ground will inspire his men.
He said: “Beating United earlier this season does not make this game any tougher to win as it was going to be a tough game anyway.
“I have watched them recently and they have clicked into gear and are playing very well.
“Scott Fraser has emerged as a real danger and we know that we have to play incredibly well to do anything.
“However, we will hopefully get the extra motivation needed to do that by playing in a great arena.
“We will go there as huge underdogs but we will go out looking to show that we can play a bit.”
