A young Newcastle player who was linked with Dundee United in the summer is making a name for himself as the top scorer with the Magpies’ second string.
Sean Longstaff was understood to have been put to Tannadice boss Ray McKinnon as a potential loan signing in the close-season but a move didn’t happen.
Now the 18-year-old has got eight goals for his home town team’s under-23 side.
Longstaff is regarded as one of Newcastle’s best talents beneath the first team, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.
Newcastle are drip feeding their young players the experience of a match day at St James’ with Longstaff getting a taste of a first team warm-up recently.
Reflecting on the experience in an interview with his local newspaper, he said: “You get to see what it’s like before the game and when they come out.
“Even when we come on the pitch we see that is unbelievable and it’s something we want to do.
“We want to get the experience but we all want to push on and get the chance to play.”
