Dundee United officials are concerned about the possible negative impact of a new SFA blueprint on the club’s youth system.
The proposal, yet to be published, is understood to be titled: “Project Brave: Raising the Bar – Changing the Game.”
United are believed to be particularly worried about a planned move to an elite eight-academy set-up, leaving clubs like them, Motherwell and Kilmarnock cut out.
That would risk the loss of players from the Tangerines’ programme to one of the new “elite” organisations.
It is being reported that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan is considering going ahead with “Project Brave” without the matter going to a vote of member clubs but he faces opposition from United and others if that’s the case.
The plan will be the topic of discussion between Tannadice officials at a meeting today.
