Dundee United midfielder Charlie Telfer has been hailed as an unsung hero of the club’s promotion push.
Telfer was one of United’s star performers as they held their nerve to beat Hibs at Tannadice on Friday night.
The former Rangers man hardly put a foot wrong and now manager Ray McKinnon is looking for him to hit that high standard again when they travel to Somerset Park to face Ayr United tomorrow.
McKinnon said: “Charlie has been an unsung hero for us.
“I thought he was excellent the other night against Hibs.
“I seriously can’t remember the last time Charlie gave the ball away.
“He keeps it so well for us and always finds his man with the pass.
“That has given others confidence because it keeps things ticking over in midfield.
“He wasn’t getting bogged down and took pressure off the defence late in the game.”
