Dundee United have dug deep in an attempt to lure former player Nadir Ciftci back to Tannadice from Celtic.
It is understood the Tangerines want the Turkish forward at Tannadice on loan until the end of the season, having sold him to the Hoops for £1.5 million less than 18 months ago.
A return for the 24-year-old would excite the United fans, for whom Ciftci was a real favourite.
It is understood they have done everything they can to fund a possible deal as they aim to boost their strikeforce for the Championship title battle with Hibs.
They have enquired about Ciftci to Celtic and explored the possibility with Parkhead officials.
However, there are hurdles to any loan move, with both Ciftci and Celtic still to be convinced it would be right for them.
Also, United are looking at other options, with Dutch-born attacker Felitciano Zschusschen currently on trial at the club.
