Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon was an angry man after his players crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Hibs at Easter Road last night.
A double from Jason Cummings in the first half was followed by a third goal from Hibs substitute John McGinn nine minutes from time as they hosts strolled to a straight-forward win.
The loss meant the Tangerines are now four points adrift of the Edinburgh side in the Championship, with the Hibees also boasting a vastly-superior goal difference.
McKinnon certainly didn’t miss his players after the final whistle.
He said: “To find ourselves two goals down so early, it was game over really for us. That was the most disappointing thing.
“It hasn’t been like us to give away cheap goals like that.
“We never cleared our lines and we never got out of our box.
“We left a player in to play him (Cummings) onside at the first one. It was a bad goal to lose.
“At the second, the break of the ball at the halfway line left them clean through.
“Those were two terrible goals to lose and we then had a mountain to climb.
“We never passed the ball with any penetration or pace. We were far too pretty.
“Too many of our boys were just not at the races.”
Hibs gaffer Neil Lennon was understandably delighted with his players.
He said: “We couldn’t have asked any more from them – it was just an outstanding team performance.
“It’s the best I have witnessed since I have been here and it was against a very good side.”
