Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon hopes to have another new signing by the time they face Queen of the South.
As Danish frontman Thomas Mikkelsen continues to settle in at Tannadice, yet another attacking player is on the club’s radar.
However, there will need to be one member of the squad going out the door before a new one comes in.
That will make it a busy few days for McKinnon ahead of Saturday’s home clash with the Doonhamers.
McKinnon confirmed: “We are working right now to bring someone in.
“Hopefully, we will have someone by the end of the week.
“We would be delighted if we can get it done. We would be very excited.
“We are probably going to have to move someone on to bring someone in.
“I spoke to a player today about potentially moving out and there might be some interest in him from somewhere else.
“Again, it’s down to whether the player wants to go or not.”
Meanwhile, McKinnon has liked what he has seen of Odense loan signing Mikkelsen thus far.
He said: “Thomas looked good in training today.
“He got on against Hibs for a wee while and I played him on Monday in an under-20s game for 45 minutes, even though the conditions were terrible.
“He worked hard and he is what we thought he would be, that is someone who goes and attacks the ball.
“Thomas is a team player, works hard, and is good in the air.
“He also has pace and workrate, too, with good movement,” added the Tangerines’ gaffer.
“Against Hibs, there were a couple of balls which came into the box in the air which he attacked and that is what we have lacked.
“We chased him and tried to sign him in the summer but there was a fee at the end of the loan which we couldn’t afford so it didn’t happen.
“He has a good pedigree and is in our thoughts for Saturday.”
Right-back Frank van der Struijk, meanwhile, continues to make progress but the Queens game will come too soon for him.
McKinnon said: “Van der Struijk trained very well today and is looking good.
“He could be back within the next two weeks.
“It’s the first time this season that we don’t have any real injuries at the club so I’m happy with that.”
