Dundee United have informed ticketless supporters planning on travelling to Alkmaar that they could face arrest.
United’s entire away allocation of 1,300 briefs for Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash at the AFAS Stadion was snapped up within three hours last Friday.
Indeed, some supporters queued up overnight in the heady aftermath of the Tangerines’ 1-0 triumph over AZ at Tannadice.
United chiefs managed to talk their Dutch counterparts up from an initial offer of less than 1,000 tickets for the return.
UEFA mandates that a host club makes 5% of their capacity available for away fans.
United will get around 6.5% of the AFAS Stadion.
Nevertheless, that has left some fans without tickets despite making plans to travel to the Netherlands. In which case, United, via communication from AZ, have advised those supporters to remain in Amsterdam.
A United statement read: “Supporters who do not have match tickets are advised not to travel to Alkmaar itself.
“It is a small city with small bars not set up for football fans and laws in Netherlands mean there is a possibility that fans attending the city on matchday without a ticket will be arrested.
“Amsterdam has a lot of large sports bars that can accommodate football fans and fans without tickets are encouraged to stay in Amsterdam where they can watch the game in a safe, welcoming environment.”
Ejected
It has also been reemphasised that supporters in the home end at the AFAS Stadion will be ejected.
Those United fans with tickets are being urged to gather in Waagplein Square prior to kick-off.

United travel to Alkmaar defending a 1-0 lead from the first leg.
The winners will face either Gil Vicente or FC Riga for a lucrative, transformative place in the Europa Conference League group stage.
