Dundee United duo Blair Spittal and Lewis Toshney are facing spells on the sidelines.
Spittal is understood to have a broken bone in his foot after having to come off during the Tangerines’ woeful 3-0 defeat to Falkirk on Saturday.
Toshney, who had already been nursing a broken toe, has pulled a hamstring.
Manager Ray McKinnon said: “Blair has already been to hospital and we are checking Lewis to see how bad it is.
“They could both be out for a wee bit.”
McKinnon, meanwhile, wasn’t holding back as he reflected on the heavy loss to the Bairns.
He said: “It was extremely disappointing and, honest to God, I felt for the fans.
“That was the most inept performance we have had this season and I can only apologise for that.”
Next up for United is their trip to Queen of the South for the Irn Bru Cup semi-final on Saturday and the good news is that they will have central defender William Edjenguele available after suspension.
