Thomas Mikkelsen feels right at home at Tannadice and hopes Dundee United can stay unbeaten at their own ground all season.
Today’s crucial Championship clash with Morton will be only United’s fourth game in front of their own crowd since early December.
That imbalance in the fixture allocation means they have been left with seven home games out of 12 remaining in the league.
The Danish striker wants them to make that work for them and revealed how much he adores Tannadice.
He wants nothing more than for the Tangerines to stay unbeaten, having not lost in 15 league and cup games on their own pitch.
Mikkelsen, who scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers in the club’s last home match, said: “I absolutely love Tannadice and I feel we are really strong there.
“We have a great home record and I thank that is in large part due to the backing we get from our supporters.
“When you hear the fans singing and cheering you on it really gives you a lift as a player and I know the other guys feel the same way as I do.
“It helps a great deal.
“I have seen that we have a lot of home matches left this season and that can be a really positive thing for us.
“It is good that’s the case but we have to make all the home matches count, starting against Morton.”
United will bookend a successful week if they can add three points against the Greenock club to the 3-2 Irn-Bru Cup semi-final win they achieved against Queen of the South at Palmerston last Saturday night.
“If we beat them then it will have been a terrific week for us,” added Mikkelsen.
“We would widen the gap between us and Morton but we can’t just expect to win – we must do the things that we are good at.
“We know Hibs are seven points ahead of us at the top but we have to just focus on ourselves.
“It will not be easy to catch them but we have to play our game and maybe we can put pressure on them if we keep picking up points.”
For that to happen, though, Mikkelsen knows they will have to avoid the kind of performance level dip that saw them lose two second-half goals to the Doonhamers despite being three-up and cruising in the cup-tie.
“We could definitely be satisfied with the first half in that cup game but we maybe didn’t do as well as we could in the second half.
“We scored three good goals in the first half and were playing well but then they came back into it.
“However, we got through the game and won it.
“It would be good if we could keep up that intensity we showed in the first half for 90 minutes against Morton.”
