Liam Fox will hold talks with Dundee United owner Mark Ogren and sporting director Tony Asghar this weekend as they seek to plot a path to success for the Tangerines.
United’s American chairman is currently in Scotland and had a brief meeting with Fox on Tuesday, with the Tannadice head coach insisting the Minnesota-based businessman was “positive” regarding the future.
Ogren has shown his support for community endeavours — such as the Dundee United Para-Sports Club’s Powerchair Football initiative — while on this side of the Atlantic, and will attend Saturday’s crucial Premiership fixture against Motherwell.
Following that match, there will be further discussions as United plan for the coming months, with contract discussions and the January transfer window among the looming priorities.
Asked if he has tackled forward-planning with Ogren, Fox replied: “We’ll probably do that over the coming days, when we get the chance for a proper sit down with him and Tony (Asghar, sporting director).
“I had an hour with the owner on Tuesday and I’ll catch-up with him again over the weekend.
“It was good to see him. It’s always good to have him over in Scotland. He was really positive. You can always do things through e-mail, texts or Zoom, but to actually sit down with the owner is much better.
“We have some big games, then the break — and huge games when we come back. There’s the January window as well. It’s exciting times.
“I know from previous discussions that, first and foremost, he is a great guy and has the best interests of this football club at heart. He wants us to be successful and to do good things here.”
Danger zone
Ogren placed his faith in Fox to guide United away from the danger zone, choosing the relative management rookie to succeed Jack Ross in September.
And the United head coach added: “He (Ogren) has put his trust in me — which is fantastic.
“Myself, the staff and the players will give everything we possibly can to deliver that success.”
