Former East Fife goalkeeper Jude Smith has landed his maiden Scotland under-21 call-up — just three months after completing a dream switch to Newcastle United.
Smith, 19, has been named in Scot Gemmill’s group for the upcoming friendly against Iceland on November 17.
The Coatbridge-born stopper emerged through the youth ranks of Celtic but departed the Glasgow giants in search of first-team football in the summer of 2021.
Smith swiftly joined the Methil men and belied his young age by making 30 senior appearances for East Fife, keeping five clean sheets.
He was snapped up by English Premier League high-flyers Newcastle in August and has played 11 times for their under-21 side, including fixtures against senior outfits Doncaster, Barnsley and Lincoln City in the EFL Trophy.
The teenage keeper joins starlets from both sides of Tannadice Street in Gemmill’s squad.
Dundee United are represented by Archie Meekison, who made his international debut at under-21 level in September.
Meekison, who has featured four times for the Tangerines this term, was a late call-up for the last squad and impressed during a late cameo against Northern Ireland in Paisley.

Meanwhile, Dundee prospect Josh Mulligan has retained his place after making a fine impact during the last camp.
The Dee ace found the net twice as Scotland defeated Northern Ireland 3-1 during the last international window.
Former Raith Rovers and United men Kieron Bowie and Lewis Neilson, now of Fulham and Hearts respectively, are also in the squad.
