Former Dundee United kid Florent Hoti has opened up on his Tannadice departure as he looks to kickstart his career with Arbroath.
The 21-year-old signed for the Lichties on Friday and came on in the second half to make his debut in the 1-1 draw with Cove Rangers.
Hoti added some impetus in an otherwise jaded Arbroath side.
And boss Dick Campbell feels he will only get better, adding: “He will become a right good player for Arbroath.”
Hoti brings with him to Gayfield some top-flight experience with nine Premiership appearances under his belt for United.
He was offered his chance by then-boss Micky Mellon before a loan spell with Forfar. Upon returning, Tam Courts played him on five occasions last season.
But he was released in the summer after two years with the Tangerines.
Asked if he was disappointed not to have been given more of a chance with The Terrors, he responded: “Yeah.
“Micky brought me in and I thought I’d have a chance but then I went out on loan.
“I’d have liked to have played more there but for whatever reason it just didn’t work out.”
Arbroath via Peterhead
Hoti arrived at Gayfield from Tannadice via Peterhead.
He played two games as a trialist for Jim McInally’s League One side – even earning a man of the match award after 10-man Blue Toon held Edinburgh to a draw a few weeks ago.
The Kosovo under-21 international says his time with the Aberdeenshire side was to help build his fitness up before managing to catch the eye of new boss Campbell.
“It was a couple of trialist games for fitness,” Hoti said. “You can’t really practice game-realistic runs.
“I was training with other teams, and Arbroath, and I liked what the gaffer was telling me and I took the deal.
“I was training with them on Monday and Wednesday. The gaffer must have liked what he saw.
“It gives me games and hopefully helps the team out as well.”
Hoti put pen to paper on a short-term deal with Arbroath until January.
The midfielder hopes to make a big impact in that time to get as many games under his belt as possible.
And when the New Year comes, he will then assess his options.
“I’ll take it as it comes,” Hoti said.
“At the age I am just now I need to play as much as I can.
“This gives me an opportunity with other leagues having a break, it gives me a chance to play.
“I think there were 11 games, including the Cove one, in my deal so I just want to play as many as I can and I’ll take it from there.”
