Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon has spoken of his delight after Stewart Murdoch extended his contract at the club until June, 2019.
The 27-year-old joined the Tangerines last summer after being released by Ross County.
A recognised midfielder, Murdoch showed his versatility for United after moving to right-back for the second half of the campaign.
McKinnon said: “When I brought Stewart to the club last season, I described him as the right type and someone who is strong in the tackle.
“He has also shown his adaptability with his move to right-back, and I am delighted to have him signed up again.
“This season it will be important that every member of the squad can make an impact every time I call on them and I know with Stewart that is the case.”
Murdoch added: “Despite the disappointment of not making it into the Premiership, I have loved being at United, and I am determined to do my bit this season and help the team secure promotion.
“I am looking forward to pre-season and getting back out on the park, giving 100% for Dundee United.”
