Willo Flood has spoken of his determination to get Dundee United back to the top flight after agreeing a one-year contract extension.
The 32-year-old Irish midfielder, who played 46 matches for the Tangerines last term as they just missed out on promotion, will be at Tannadice until June 2018.
Flood said: “I enjoy being a United player and I am determined to get this club into the Premiership.
“I am happy to have signed a new contract and now want to focus on ensuring promotion this year.”
Manager Ray McKinnon, who will get his players together for the start of pre-season training next Wednesday, added: “Willo’s ability is there for everyone to see but he has shown, time and again, his leadership and work ethic are right up there and were an important reason for the decision to offer him another year.
“The signings we have already brought to the club and the players I am currently pursuing are all strong characters alongside their ability, and it was important that we kept hold of players like Willo, who already brought a strong mentality to the dressing room.
“It will be important that I know every player can impact the game when called upon and with Willo I know that to be the case.”
