Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon has handed a trial to Francois Kompany – the younger brother of Manchester City and Belgium skipper Vincent.
The Tangerines manager gave the 28-year-old a run-out as a trialist for the Under-20s against St Mirren on Tuesday and he could be given more game time in the Development League next week when Hearts provide the opposition.
Kompany, who can play at centre-half or left-back, started his career at Mechelen in Belgium before playing for Macclesfield Town and then lower league sides in his homeland.
McKinnon said: “Francois’s a decent player with good experience and I liked what I saw of him on Tuesday and in training with us this week.
“He is lacking a bit when it comes to match fitness but he’s going to stay on next week so he can put a bit of work in and we can have a look at him in another game.”
