Dundee United have opened contract talks with their star player, Scott Fraser, Courier Sport can reveal.
The 22-year-old, who was yesterday presented with the Ladbrokes Championship player of the month award for November, is out of contract in the summer.
He will be free to speak to other clubs next month, with Wigan among those reported to be tracking him, but Fraser wants to get United promoted.
And if contract discussions go well with the Tangerines he could have a Premiership campaign to look forward to next season.
“I think talks have just begun,” Fraser said.
“It’s still at very early stages. That’s something that will be discussed more at the end of the month.
“I’m enjoying myself. I’m in no rush to leave.
“I’d love to get this club promoted. Being a local boy who has come through the academy and being part of the squad that got relegated, it would be great to help them back up.
“You do feel a bit of responsibility. It’s hard when you’re from the area and you’re seeing fans in the town. There is more pressure on local boys.
“If I can be here at the end of the season and get the club promoted I’ll be happy with that.”
