No date has yet been fixed for Dundee United’s trip to Queen of the South after today’s game was abandoned. With the score 0-0 at half-time referee Craig Thomson deemed the artificial Palmerston pitch to be unplayable. He said: “At the start of the game, the pitch was in good condition but it started to get harder as the temperature dropped. “A film of frost started to develop and a number of players expressed concerns about turning and stopping. “I checked the pitch at half-time and I felt it would only have got worse. “The safety of players is paramount and it was not a great spectacle for spectators.” It expected the rearranged match will take place in the new year – possibly as late as February. St Mirren have jumped above United to the top of the league after winning 1-0 against Dunfermline.
