Dundee United midfielder Fraser Fyvie is facing an anxious wait to discover the extent of his knee damage.
Fyvie had to be carried off the pitch during the Tangerines 3-0 home win over Livingston on Saturday.
He was injured as he challenged Livi’s Stephen Boyd and, after several minutes’ worth of treatment on the pitch, was replaced by substitute Matty Smith.
He will definitely miss Friday’s huge clash against St Mirren and a few other fixtures but manager Csaba Laszlo has his fingers crossed that Fyvie hasn’t damaged his cruciate ligaments.
Laszlo said: “I am very sad about it because Fraser is a fantastic guy and a fantastic football player.
“He is also very important for our team, both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
“Now he has got this stupid injury. It was not necessary.
“We don’t know how bad it is.
“I hope it is just the meniscus (disc that cushions the knee) and not the cruciate.
“That would mean he would be out for four weeks.
“We have to have to stay behind him now and show him that we want him back playing football for us.
“He is to get a scan and after that we will know everything.
“We are just guessing at the moment but, hopefully, it’s not his cruciate.”
