Tannadice legend Paul Sturrock has signed for Dundee United.
The former player and manager has been named as the Tangerines’ new chief scout covering England with immediate effect.
Luggy (61) spent 15 years as a player at United, winning a league title, two League Cups, graced the European stage and starred for Scotland.
He also spent four years as a coach at Tannadice and managed the team from 1998 until 2000.
He also had spells in charge of St Johnstone, Plymouth Argyle (twice), Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town, Southend United and Yeovil Town.
His vast knowledge and expertise of the English game will be mined and he will report directly to first-team manager Csaba Laszlo.
United have moved quickly after Mike Martin stressed improvement in recruitment as a priority of his when he was unveiled as new Tannadice chairman earlier this week.
Sturrock said: “I am delighted to be back working for my club.
“I met with chairman Mike Martin and manager Csaba Laszlo earlier this week and I felt that we all shared the same belief on the best way forward for Dundee United.
“I look forward to working hard and using my knowledge of the English game to bring talent to the club.”
