Ray McKinnon could be set for a battle with his old club Dundee United for the signature of former St Johnstone midfielder Chris Millar.
The vastly experienced playmaker was released by Tommy Wright at the end of last season after 10 years with the Perth club and his old club Morton are understood to be keen to bring him back to Cappielow.
With Fraser Fyvie not due to return from his injury lay-off for a few months, Csaba Laszlo is in the market for a controlling central midfielder and Millar is on United’s radar.
Shaun Byrne was one option being considered but he has decided to stay at Livingston.
Millar is a Saints legend after playing a crucial part in their Scottish Cup win and several top six Premiership finishes. He is currently in the middle of a testimonial season.
